TIES - 2nd Workshop: "International Strategic Planning"

Saturday, March 12, 2011 to Sunday, March 13, 2011
Princess Sumaya University for Technology

This workshop examined in detail how HE institutions undertake the process of Strategic Planning and how this can also be applied to international relations and, more specifically, the internationalisation process. Methodologies for strategic planning were discussed, as well as real examples of a process of strategic planning on an institutional level incorporating an international focus in the EU partner institution. The main objectives of the workshop were to:

  • Determine what strategic planning is and what it is for
  • How this previous business concept can be successfully applied to HE
  • Different methods of strategic planning – ad hoc or back to basics?
  • Share examples of international planning processes or other planning processes worthy of note in the Partner Country institutions
  • The subject of overplanning.

The workshop consisted of some presentations, some discussion and was based on a participatory approach.
